Qualification Tournament for the Bases Discipline

The format of all matches will be W-C (Colony Wars + Cosmic Gambits)

Each round is a 2-game set, preferably played in parallel - report a winner for 2-0, report a tie for 1-1.

Each Qualification Tournament is a six-round swiss style tournament featuring one of the available digital expansions, which is the basis for the discipline. Players are competing to earn admittance into further participation within the given discipline, as well as trophy points for ranking within those disciplines.

In each round of the competition, players will be paired up with another player of approximately equal standing, and play a two-game set, recording the result in Challonge as a Win for the player taking both games (2 rating points), or a Tie if the games are split (1 rating point each). When all matches of a given round are complete, the next round will automatically start.

The Top-16 Players will be considered qualified, and remaining players tied with the 16th player will be considered tentatively qualified. However, participation in the disciplines will be limited; players qualifying for multiple disciplines will vacate some of their spots, which will go to the next highest players. Tentative qualification is very likely to be upgraded to full qualification, and it is also possible that players finishing slightly lower end up earning a spot.

Performance in the qualification tournament by those who end up qualifying will also serve as the basis for the first awarding of trophy points. The player in 1st, or trophy point will be awarded for earning 9-10 rating points, 2 trophy points for 11-12 rating points, and 3 trophy points for 13-14.

Tiebreakers: it is possible that more than one player will be tied for a qualification spot. The Median-Buchholz system will be used as the first tiebreaker, which rewards players based on a strength of schedule type rating. If there is still a tie, head-to-head results will be checked, followed by total match wins, which are not otherwise rewarded (as ranking points are based on games won).
